Network signal strength decreased from "excellent" to "good", From 99% to 60%. Why??
I have just reformat my laptop without backing any data. So my laptop is now recovered to it's original factory shipped condition. Before the reformat was done, The signal strength was never decreased so much like this. It has always been "excellent" and 99% signal strength. Plus, the router or access point is in my room, very close to my laptop. I should received the strongest signal quality, but it is not, I wonder why. My network is a security-enabled network that requires a password to connect. In my house, ONLY three(3) laptop can use this network including me. My mom's, my sister's, and myself. I have checked their laptop, and they both got "excellent" signal strength. This was never happens before to my laptop since the router was first configured in my house. Plus, I did not change any of the settings for the internet or network in my computer, I kept it by default. The router seems to be working properly and fine, no damage, no interference from other devices. I have no cordless phone in this house that can also use my network's frequency. All of the settings for the network remain default. My firewall and anti-virus software has nothing to do with this, I have checked them. My router cannot attach an additional antenna. I've been living here and used this laptop for two consecutive years now, using the same router and network, using the same laptop, the same position. Before the reformat, the network signal strength was "excellent". I am using windows vista home premium, HP Pavilion dv6000, Intel pentium dual-core, and 2038 memory(RAM). What Should I do?
